The National Symphonic Chamber Orchestra (NASKA) is an enthusiastic and flexible ensemble which has a nucleus of around 60 young players. The size of the orchestra can vary from several players to a full symphony orchestra. As well as their own concert series the orchestra is regularly invited to play at varied locations and concert venues. Their repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary.
NASKA is always looking for new challenges, initiates and promotes performances of ‘unknown’ works and is presently working on both Dutch and World premieres. The orchestra is very willing to promote new music! They are involved with various CD recordings and their schedule also involves accompanying choirs which this enthusiastic orchestra gladly do.
Another activity is to support the development of chamber music ensembles within the orchestra and to make music more accessible to the general public.
An important role for the orchestra is to make classical music more approachable to young people. To achieve this, works will be commissioned to be performed at family concerts for example. As well as music, these projects will also contain theatrical and visual aspects.
Whilst music may be universal, Dutch composers and their music are close to the orchestra’s heart. NASKA has plans to work with various Dutch and international soloists thereby putting the orchestra on both the local and international music maps.
The National Symphonic Chamber Orchestra is glad to be of service to the listener and audience!
